Air source heat pumps offer an alternative heating method for your home. They extract heat from the outside air, even in moderate temperatures, and transfer it to your indoor heating system using a refrigerant and compressor. This can potentially lead to lower energy bills compared to traditional heating systems. Air source heat pumps are considered renewable energy sources because they utilise environmental heat.

Air Source Heat Pumps

An air source heat pump is an alternative way to heat your home. It will enable you to generate your own renewable heat and potentially save you money on your energy bills. An air source heat pump works by absorbing heat from the outside air into a liquid refridgerent at a low temperature. Using electric power it compresses the liquid to increase its temperature, it can then be distributed round your heating system. Please contact us to discuss air source heat pumps.

Ground Source Heat Pumps

Ground source heat pumps are generally made up of a ground loop, which is a network work of pipes buried in the ground. A mixture of water and anti-freeze is pumped round the ground loops that absorb the heat that is naturally stored in the ground. The glycol mix then gets compressed with electric power and passes through a heat exchanger, it can then be distributed round your heating system. Please contact us to discuss ground source heat pumps.

How Things Work

Our Process

  • Survey

Initially, we like to send our customers a form asking for details of the property. This enables us to issue a ‘quick quote’ to give you an idea of the cost. If you are happy we then arrange a site visit to discuss options and survey the property which enables us to carry out full heat loss calculations to ensure you will get the maximum efficiency with the correct sized unit.

  • Free Quote

Our quotes are all provided with no obligation and free of charge.

  • Installation

Our installations take between 3 to 5 days and we endeavour to do this with minimal disruption to the customer.  Once contracts are signed, we aim to start your installation within three to four weeks.

FAQs

  • How efficient are heat pumps?

Heat pumps are very efficient heating solutions that use naturally occurring heat to provide us with hot water and heating. An air source heat pump can produce as much as four units of heat for every unit of electricity it uses.

  • Do heat pumps freeze up in the winter?

Heat pumps are designed to run efficiently all year round and are well-equipped to run in cold temperatures. Some heat pumps can continue working in outside temperatures of -20 degrees C and will run defrosting cycles in very cold weather to make sure they continue working correctly.

  • What size KW heat pump do i need?

The size of the heat pump you will need will depend on factors such as how large your property is, the size of its radiators and the property’s insulation. If the heat pump is too small it won’t provide the amount of heat you need, while if it’s too large that too will cause issues.  Holt Plumbing and Heating carries out full heat loss calculations to ensure you have the correct size heat pump for your home to maximise efficiency.
